Hello!—Here I am, love and lorn and fairly complacent about the whole thing. My hero has gone away to St. Jo for the weekend and I have been drowning my sorrows in work. I mopped and swept our room and dutifully cleaned the spider webs away from the windows—also beautified nature but with aid of Albert Johnson. (Buddy Scott just came in and let a frog loose and he just caught it. Oh well—it’s the life!) I smell awful as I just spilled rubber cement all over me trying to fix my shoes. Well—such is life. (I hope he chokes—I keep thinking.)

Am lone and lorn today but am satisfactorily drowning my sorrow (almost) as you see: “This can’t be love because I feel so well.”*
